a splinter in my mind xvi

Is God a belief system?

Some might say Islam (Muslim faith) doesn’t = God.

Others might say Buddhism doesn’t = God.

Still others might say Hinduism doesn’t = God

But…

Does Christianity = God? Is God a belief system?

Make no mistake, Christianity IS a belief system. To be a Christian you must believe a certain way and demonstrate that belief in living. If you don’t think Christianity is a belief system, just Google “What do Christians believe?” and page through the millions of websites titled as such.

If God isn’t a belief system, what is God?

Some say that God is a universal connection expressed in the vast spaces, emptiness, nothingness, that exists at the core of all matter.

I like that idea. I am still trying to bridge that concept with the Christian concept of a loving, humanoid-God.

Is God a belief system? My (current) definitive answer: God exists whether or not we choose to frame our lives around the concept.

But, being human, once we conceive of the notion of God or not-God, our own need to place ideas into a framework builds a belief system around the notion.

Therefore, God becomes a belief system the instant we consider the concept.

How would "God AS love" work as a replacement for a belief system?

...ok, i guess. the "as" is an nice change, but after a while, i think it has to be an internal thing. at least for me, it fairly quickly turns into words without meaning. but maybe i'm just tired tonight.

It does turn internally...Christ is your life and the kingdom of God AS love is within you ;)
