Breathing belief

I’m thinking God is trying to get across the idea there is something besides oxygen believers breathe to live in the kingdom of God. The “work” (ie John 6:29) of breathing belief, God shared with us through stories like David & Goliath, Paul in prison, Jesus’ death, Peter going to the gentiles, Daniel in the lions den, Shadrach, Mishak and Abindigo, Abraham & his son. Those folks and many more lived with a certain peace in the face of overwhelming odds, death and/or tragedy. A calm sense of God being present oriented them despite whatever circumstances came their way. Maybe the kingdom of god, Jesus said lies within us, is a Holy Spirit aquatic breathing ability available to us when submersed in the deep dark waters of trials, Jesus said would surely come our way. Opening our lungs of belief to what the world says are waters of sure death, pain and tragedy; we begin to exist in the spiritual dimension of the kingdom of god; a way of living enabling people, once dependent on oxygen, "to breathe anew" when circumstances of life knock the air of this world right out of us. Perhaps Steven Curtis Chapman’s song “I’m diving in” is a call to flourish, experience joy and live in the ruff and tumbling, rapidly moving waters of this life. So...deep breaths...breathe, breathe belief, breathe belief that he is present. Breathe.

The long awaited rains
Have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground
And carved their way to where
The wild and rushing river can be found
And like the rains
I have been carried here to where the river flows yeah
My heart is racing and my knees are weak
As I walk to the edgeI know there is no turning back
Once my feet have left the ledge
And in the rush I hear a voice
That’s telling me it’s time to take the leap of faith
So here I go

I’m diving in I’m going deep in over my head I want to be
Caught in the rush lost in the flow in over my head I want to go
The river’s deep the river’s wide the river’s water is alive
So sink or swim I’m diving inThere is a supernatural power
In this mighty river’s flowIt can bring the dead to life
And it can fill an empty soul
And give a heart the only thing
Worth living and worth dying for yeah
But we will never know the awesome power
Of the grace of god
Until we let ourselves get swept away
Into this holy flood
So if you’ll take my hand
We’ll close our eyes and count to three
And take the leap of faith
Come on let’s go
